Journey To Health

Katie Bowden BSc(Hons), RSHom

About the consultation

The first consultation will take up to 2 hours. During this time I will explore what is affecting you at present, the details of your current symptoms and family & personal medical history. Through the session I will be piecing together a timeline of medical symptoms and also plotting major events in your life such as conflicts, shocks, traumas or disappointments. This is of importance because the remedy that I prescribe will be based on both physical and psychological factors because the mind and body are dynamically interconnected and directly influence each other. I will also be asking you about your likes and dislikes; foods, climate, time of day, season etc. Everything that I learn in the consultation enables me to find the best remedy for you and also help me to try to understand what might have contributed to the illness in the first place.

After the first consultation I will then arrange to see you for a follow up appointment. Follow up appointments are important to assess the efficacy of the prescription. They last approximately 1 hour and are 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation.

Most people find that having the time and space to talk about all the aspects of their health is quite a relief. I consider the 'homeopath-client' relationship to be a partnership and I hope that as we work together through your treatment you will feel more empowered about your own health.

How long does treatment take?

We are all individual and the length of treatment can vary greatly from one person to another. Following the first follow up consultation it may be possible to form an idea of the probable length of treatment required. The speed of healing is dependent on your level of vitality, constitution and the length of time that you have had the symptoms.

Many people also use homeopathy as a way to have a regular 'MOT' and after their initial treatment they continue to see their homeopath every 6 or 12 months for a check up. In this busy world we live in, we often get health niggles that we ignore, thinking we'll deal with them later. This can be an excellent chance to assess if you are still running smoothly and if not a remedy can be given to help restore you to balance.
